Boise State President Marlene Tromp has been selected as a finalist for the University of Vermont (UVM) presidency.

After a six month search for a new president, Tromp will attend a series of interviews at the university on March 18-19, answering questions from students and faculty alike.

If elected, Tromp would succeed current Vermont President Provost Patricia A. Prelock, who has been serving as interim president for UVM since October 2024.

Since 2019, Tromp has led Boise State to record-breaking academic achievements for graduation rates and philanthropic growth through the university’s Unbridled campaign.

A student from the UVM reached out to The Arbiter asking for a general consensus of student and faculty opinion of President Tromp.

Tromp previously served as provost and executive vice chancellor at the University of California, as well as a dean and vice provost at Arizona State University.

A livestream of the open forum will be posted Wednesday, March 19, on the university website
