Boise celebrates 150

Boise is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year and Mayor Dave Bieter encourages Boisians to accept his challenge of walking 150 miles during 2013 to in celebration of the cities sesquicentennial  birthday.

The kick off for what has been dubbed, ‘Walk 150’ will take place at Whitney Elementary School, located at 1609 S. Owyhee. Bieter will get things started today, January 24 at 11:30 a.m.

The ultimate goal is to encourage people living in the Treasure Valley to maintain or improve individual health while walking around the beautiful City of Trees.

Students living on and off campus can participate in ‘Walk 150’ by clocking miles walked across the Boise State campus and surrounding neighborhoods or by exploring the various neighborhoods throughout the valley.
