Boise State’s CommunicationCon to be held May 1

Boise State’s 2014 CommCon will be host to a variety of professionals and organizations promoting education and job opportunities in the field of communication.

This includes newly appointed Professor of the Practice Steve Moore, who, as writer Keely Mills mentioned in the April 21 edition of The Arbiter, will “be available for any students who wish to learn more about journalism, animated movies and comics.”

The keynote event ‘#socialinsochi,’ which “features 2014 Winter Olympians with Idaho ties, will discus the role social media played in their respective Olympic journeys,” according to Boise State’s Department of Communication website for the event. Bobsledder Nick Cunningham, downhill skier Erik Fisher and biathlete Sara Studebaker are among the guests for the night.

The 2014 CommCon will take place Thursday, May 1 from 4-7 p.m. in Simplot Ballrooms B and D in the Student Union Building (SUB), with the keynote event following at 7:30 in the Special Events Center. All communication students are  encouraged to attend.

The entire event is free and open to the public, though the keynote portion of the night will be ticketed. Free student tickets are available at the Info Desk in the SUB, while public tickets can be purchased on the Department of Communication website at sspa.boisestate.edu.
