Venture College application deadline approaches

Students who have an idea for business or non-profit organization and are looking for some start-up advice still have an opportunity to apply to Venture College–but they’ll have to hurry. The deadline to apply to Venture College is Dec. 20.

Venture College is a fairly new program at Boise State–it debuted during the Fall 2013 semester–created to give aid to students who have an entrepreneurial idea. The program is not for class credit and no additional tuition is required. It can be thought of an intensive extracurricular.

To apply students need to be enrolled in a degree-seeking program at Boise State and submit a personal statement and reference letter as part of the application process. Students also should:

  • Have a bias for action and be intrigued with the idea of creating a new organization.
  • Have an idea that could be the basis for a new business or nonprofit.
  • Be able to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week.
  • Be able to participate in a lab downtown at Venture College from 10 a.m. to noon each Friday.

Once the application deadline has past, they applications will be reviewed candidates will be selected for interviews. Those students will be notified by Jan. 6.

After the interview process is complete the new Venture students will begin Feb. 7.
