Office of Information Technology has issued the following warning message:
A phishing email attack using a fake Blackboard alert notification is underway against Boise State faculty, staff and students. This is a serious attack as it is directly targeting Boise State accounts.
The phishing email appears to be from firstname.lastname@example.org, and is being used to harvest Boise State account credentials. A link within the email directs to a web form on a domain registered in Belarus. The Office of Information Technology has received reports from people who have submitted their account data.
The Office of Information Technology will never request your Boise State password via email or web form.
If you received the email and clicked on the link within the message to submit account data, you will need to reset your Boise State account password immediately and contact the Office of Information Technology Help Desk for further instructions at 426-4357, or email email@example.com.
