The Broncos men’s golf team tied for fourth in the Sacramento State Invitational on Tuesday. Jordan Skyles, the Broncos’ redshirt junior, led the Broncos with a three round total of 214 (-2.) This was the Broncos’ highest placing in over a year.
For Syles he was able to card sub-par rounds in the first two rounds but finished the last round shooting (+1.)
Senior T.K. Kim moved into an eighth place tie with Adam Choy for career Top 25 finishes, placing 17th. This marks the seventh time this year that Kim has broken in the Top 25 increasing his career total to 15.
The Broncos got other contributions in route to their fourth place finish.
Freshman Logan France, senior Clayton Kasonovich and sophomore Jon VanDyk all tied for 30th place, shooting a 221 (+5) for the match.
The fourth place finish for the Broncos was their best since they placed second over a year and a half ago at the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate.
UC Santa Barbara came out victorious in the invitational shooting 11-under as a team for the tournament. Cal State Fullerton was second followed by Chico State, with Boise State and Southern Utah tying to round up the Top-5. Glen Scher shot an invitational low 208 to help lead UC Santa Barbara to a victory.
The Broncos will travel to Phoenix, Ariz. March 21-23 for the Desert Shootout. The Broncos will look to take some momentum into their next invitational building on this top-5 finish.
