On Wednesday students will have the opportunity to listen to potential future leaders of the Associated Students of Boise State University (ASBSU) debate about issues important to them.
The debate will include incumbent Ryan Gregg and his new running mate Bryan Vlok who will replace his current vice president; Nick Gaudioso.
Gregg and Vlok’s candidate description stated, “If re-elected, Bryan and I will continue to advocate on behalf of students and to facilitate greater student involvement.”
Domenic Gelsomino, also running for ASBSU president with Jamie Lundergreen as his vice president, plan to strive for more inclusiveness and awareness on campus. “I’d bring more student voices to the table, especially those who for a while have not been included in the discussion,” Gelsomino said in his candidate description. “The team I’ve selected to run with me is the first step on that path as each brings a unique voice from our diverse student body.”
The third candidate seeking election as ASBSU president is Edel Seafin with running mate Jessica Buehler. Seafin and Buehler are a team comprised of a non-traditional and traditional student, respectively. The two want to see more students getting involved in events like Homecoming and Welcome Week.
“Every BSU traditional and non-traditional student should have a say on the decisions that affect each and everyone individually through ASBSU,” said Seafin and Buehler in their candidate description.
Candidates will attempt to set themselves apart based on their platform and woo support from students.
Students interested in learning about their future school leaders will want to catch the debate on Wednesday, March 14, in the Farnsworth Room from 3 to 5 p.m.
The debate will be moderated by Nick Gaudioso and different from previous debates, this year each candidate will have the opportunity to answer the same question posed to all the previous candidates. The questions will be derived by an elections board.
