Many out of state students at Boise State fly home over breaks; however, the cost for flights have been increasing. According to Expedia.com, round-trip plane tickets to many popular cities have increased by an average of 20 percent. It is getting harder for students to afford to fly home and many choose not to because of the increasingly high prices. Tickets to cities such as Denver, Salt Lake City and Phoenix are some of the hardest hit by the price increase because they are almost three times the average national increase. Many flights out of Boise use these three cities for connecting flights, making tickets to almost anywhere in the country increasingly unaffordable. Because of higher fuel prices, average national ticket prices are up by 6.4 percent. However, some one-way tickets out of Boise have gone down in price including flights to Los Angeles, Chicago and San Jose. But if coming back to Boise is desired, this may not be a primary choice.
