The Bronco Bashers’ Blog: If Boise State’s season was a romantic comedy
Posted by Courtesy Sports Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010 Jordan and Tyler are the host of Sports Campus (University of Alabama’s student-run radio sports show). Twice a week they will contribute a blog based around the Southeastern Conference and Alabama’s opinion of Boise State. Follow this link to check out Tyler’s Blog about all things sports.

It is a perfect script for a romantic comedy that doesn’t have a happy ending. Take the story line of Boise State, Virginia Tech, James Madison and the BCS. Change Boise State’s name to Chris, VT to Frank, keep James Madison and replace BCS with a girl’s name. Chris has fought too hard to get respect from Hillary over the years and finally he beats up Frank, someone who Hillary has respected. Yes, here is the respect! Hillary is Chris’s for the taking. But Frank loses to James, putting his respect in the negatives and Chris and Hillary split up with no future in sight.
The climax of the film will be how Chris and Hillary’s rumored relationship is all over the press, also known as, College Gameday visiting Boise. But many analysts do not see them dating because Chris has to beat up Mike (Oregon State) who will face some of the top guys in the future.
Look Broncos, James Madison really screwed everything up for you. There is no way in hell you will make the BCS National Championship. I am sorry about that. But unless Oregon State upsets instate rival and No. 5 ranked Oregon with a win over No. 20 ranked USC or upsets No. 14 ranked Arizona or No. 16 ranked Stanford at Stanford and still beat USC, then Boise, you have a chance. But the chances of either one of those two things happening are as likely as Taylor Swift knocking on my door with her guitar ready to sing “You Belong with Me.”
Yes, that is my fantasy just like your fantasy is to have Boise go to a BCS National Championship.
Dream big is what teachers, coaches, parents and Disney always said. As a kid through sophomore year in high school you dreamed about what you want to do and once college gets here, you take action. Example: I host a radio show, freelance for ESPN, and was contacted by your editor to write this. I dreamed and took action by taking out the big guns. I beat out the Juniors and Seniors ahead of me and I took the jobs I have now from them. Boise you are dreaming but not taking action.
Just like I said last week. A hard schedule is what you need to do. But instead of that, let’s just have you put up great numbers versus Oregon State. How about holding them to less than 100 yards rushing and less than 150 yards passing? Zero touchdowns? More than 400 yards passing for Moore and maybe 200 yards rushing total? Six hundred total yards? Dream about it, take action and exceed it.
Sorry, but to finish what I started….
Hillary and Chris flirt a ton. Chris takes a good amount of cold showers each Saturday night. Hillary flirts with the Bama boy, the Ohio State prep, the cowboy at Texas and even the geek at Oregon. But all in all Chris does everything right. He says the right things, buys the right clothes, blows all the other guys out of the water but for some reason Hillary’s father does not respect Chris, giving him zero access to the promise land. Both part ways to wait another eight months before flirting once more.
And that is how it is going to be for Boise. You may be No. 3 in the rankings now but those are the AP rankings not the BCS rankings released after week seven. Those are where it matters and if each team wins out I see this order.
No. 1 Alabama
No. 2 Ohio State
No. 3 Oregon
No. 4 Texas
No. 5 Nebraska
No. 6 Oklahoma
No. 7 Boise State
Why so low? By the time week seven comes around Oregon State, who is now the only ranked team Boise plays, will loose their No. 24 ranking after losing to the No. 3 ranked team in the AP and the No. 14 ranked team. Not to mention after week seven No. 5, No. 20 and No. 16 all wait back to back to back to play the Beavers.
Roll Tide and I am sorry you will never get to feel the confetti fall down while fireworks blast into the air as the fight song blares and your team is winning the national championship, man I miss that feeling from last year.

This analogy sounds more like "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" to me. Boise State has to fight through the BCS's seven evil Ex's to win her heart. Also the BCS travels through hyperspace freeways?
Didn't say it was an exact fit…
"Boise you are dreaming but are not taking action."
I hate that, how they think it's our fault that we come from a weak conference and none of the bcs schools want to risk their credibility by playing and losing to us. We've done nothing but take action. Our action is to win games, and we do it, with style and humility. We can't do anything if Hillary's friends are afraid to even try going on any dates with Chris…
They could have made this article a lot shorter by just typing "my writing style is poor, I can't form a solid argument, and I don't have a spell check function in my word processor."
I can't believe that these two are able to be in a university with such weak writing skills. Yes, Alabama isn't known for its strength of academics, but that doesn't mean that they should make a proud display of their literary incompetency.
