Injury update for Boise State football

“Austin has a fractured lower leg and might be able to return for a bowl game,” coach Chris Petersen said.

That could help speed things up instead of throwing a cast on it and letting it heal that way according to Petersen.

Darron Mackey is out indefinitely with a torn ACL.

Everyone else – linebacker Derrell Acrey (sprained ankle) and offensive tackle Nate Potter (eye gouge), notably – are day to day.

Pettis sustained a confirmed lower leg break during a failed two-point conversion against Nevada Friday night at Broncos Stadium.

An athletic department representative, a friend of Pettis’ and two Boise State players have confirmed that Pettis will not return to the active roster for the one remaining game against New Mexico State in Boise on Saturday.

Petersen stated that the posibility of surgery, which could speed up Pettis’ recovery, is an option. They are still analyzing the situation that would be in Pettis’ best interest.

Pettis finished the season with 62 receptions, 14 touchdowns and broke the single seasons receiving touchdown record before being injured.
