According to the National Interagency Coordination Center, six new large fires erupted in Southern California over the weekend. The Stanton fire is located on the Angeles National Forest. Specifically the fire is four miles north of La Canada California. The fire, which is burning in chaparral, has been showing extreme fire activity. Many Residences and a major facility used for communications remain threatened. 18 structures have been lost. The fire is five percent contained.
There are seven uncontained large fires in southern California three of which require evacuations and road closures. One fire in Northern California called the 49 fire has destroyed 25 structures and continues to threaten homes in the area.
Other states reporting new large fires include Arizona, Colorado, Oregon, Utah and Washington.
There are no large fires burning in Idaho.
