The Woods make progressive music

Story

Music is something that is constantly evolving. And just as nature evolves into something more complex and beautiful, music evolves into something more complex and beautiful.

Woods is an up and coming band who just released the album “Songs of Shame.” In basic terms their style of music could be called alternative, punk, folk or progressive rock.

However, to give them such generic terms would be giving them disservice because their music incorporates a lot more than simple fundamental concepts.

Woods are a progressive band. They are also an underground band. It’s important to know that there is a lot more music out there beyond what can be heard on the radio. In consideration of this, music fans should always be looking for new music instead of listening to the artist or album that someone else is telling them to listen to.

Woods do have an aura about them that is similar to other popular and independent bands such as Blonde Readhead, Modest Mouse, and maybe even Brian Eno. But, what needs to be noted, is that Woods is not the same.

Woods have a feel of a psychedelic jam band but they are also very close to rock bands such as The Mars Volta or These Arms are Snakes. When listening to their music, the listener won’t be unsatisfied, Woods has a very lively and authentic style.

They are “Lysergic & infectiously bent acidfolk mashed into faust IV style electronically dosed pop grooving, all awash in odd studio effects, motorik percussion, cracked fuzz, unique vocal gush, twisted lyrics and psych jams” Time-Lag Records said.

Many of these terms may seem foreign to music listeners, even if they do listen to underground music or play music themselves. However, it’s never too late to keep

opening horizons.

Those interested can check out their MySpace page at www.myspace.com/woodsfamilyband and listen to a few of their songs as well as find a link to the band’s website.

Never ever give up the opportunity to find new music, albums and concerts.
