This week we asked students, “If Boise State must trim its budget next year, do you think it should cut academic programs or faculty positions first, and why?”

Jason Ferleman

Senior

Construction management

I think there’s plenty of stuff that can get cut from both. I’m sure there’s positions that are not completely necessary in a time like this, and same with, you know, some small academic programs that don’t have very many students.

Casey Grant

Sophomore

Elementary education

Probably faculty positions because I don’t think they should limit the classes that we can take.

Chris Wallace

Freshman

Construction management/business administration

I’d say faculty positions because our academics – especially our math departments – [are] still pretty weak. And we need to get that up as much as we can.

Michael Hoyle

Technical student

Machine Tool Technology

Academic programs because some of them are under subscribed.
