In the first day of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s National Team Indoor first and second rounds, the No. 41 Boise State women’s team dropped their first of two matches hosted by the Clemson University. The Broncos (2-1) fell to No. 11 Clemson (3-0), 4-1, at the Clemson Indoor Tennis Center Saturday afternoon.

Playing only until a team clinched the win, the Broncos and Tigers played to a 4-1 score. The Broncos started out strong, winning the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Pichittra Thongdach and Lauren Megale earned an 8-4 win over Josipa Bek and Ani Mijacika of Clemson in the No. 1 match. Rocio Frej and Klaudia Wlodarczyk helped the Broncos clinch the doubles point with an 8-4 win over Estefania Balda and Alexandra Luc in the No. 3 spot.

Clemson’s Ina Hadziselimovic and Keri Wong earned a quick win over Bianca

Jochimsen and Laura Baum in the No. 2 doubles match for the Tigers’ only doubles win.

In a three-hour match, Clemson was able to come from a 1-0 deficit in the team score and tie it up with Mijacika winning the No. 1 singles match over Thongdach, 6-1, 6-3.

The Tigers’ Keri Wong was the next to earn a win, defeating Wlodarczyk, 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 4 singles match. Jochimsen fought a tough battle in the No. 3 singles match, but couldn’t hold off Balda who won, 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 to put the Tigers up 3-1.

In the No. 2 singles match, Bek was too much for Megale as she clinched the Tigers’ win in a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 win. Singles matches No. 5 and No. 6 were not completed because Clemson already had earned the team win.
