1st Quarter
Ian Johnson took the place of Jeremy Avery on the kick return team to start the game with fellow senior Vinny Perretta.
Ian Johnson lay down then stood back up to receive a pass from Vinny Perretta to return the kickoff 44 yards. The drive went to the TCU 13 where Kyle Brotzman kicked a 30 yard field goal good (11:32, 3-0 BSU)
At 5:26 p.m. PST with 7:35 left Ian Johnson ran for a touchdown around the right end, breaking the Western Athletic Conference career rushing touchdown record. This brings his tally to 58 career rushing touchdowns.
As TCU approached the end zone, Jeron Johnson made a phenomenal read on a pass from Andy Dalton intercepting it high in the air.
2nd Quarter
Stephen Hodge of TCU sacked BSU’s Kellen Moore for a 5 yd loss, ringing Moore’s bell a little. The Broncos went four and out on the drive.
TCU’s Aaron Brown rand for a 36 yard gain.
BSU’s DE Bryon Hout intercepted Dalton, running it back 64 yards to the TCU 11 yard line setting up a Kyle Brotzman 24-yard field goal (13-0 BSU).
TCU put a 60-yd, 58-second, drive together for their first score of the game by Aaron Brown with a 16-yard touchdown run (13-7 BSU).
3rd Quarter
BSU’s Moore completed a 65-yard pass up the middle to Perretta on 3rd and 12 from the Broncos 3 yardline to the TCU 32-yardline. The play set of a 38 yard field goal by Brotzman that was no good.
TCU went for it on a 4th and 1on the BSU 14 yard line and converted. The BSU defense however held them to four and out, forcing TCU to settle for a 32-yard field goal (13-10 BSU, 0:43).
4th Quarter
TCU put together an 80-yard drive, setting up a 17-yard touchdown run by Joseph Turner to give TCU their first lead of the game (13-17 TCU, 8:51).
Brotzman was good for a 33-yard FG, bringing them within one score (16-17, TCU 4:47).
TCU’s Stephen Hodge intercepts Moore on 1st and 10 at the BSU 35 yard-line with 1:53 left to all but secure their victory over BSU.
Kirk Bell
