Story

With the economy in shambles and every pocketbook in crisis mode, forget thinking of paying – these sites will help you procrastinate or prioritize without charge.

Channel surfing has taken on a whole new meaning with the move to online media. The trouble is, where to find your favorite shows for free?  They aren’t always posted on
network sites. Get your fix here.

Hulu.com
The best, most reliable bet for online television. The site has limited commercial interruption and even streams full-length movies.

SurfTheChannel.com
While “technically” legal, this site seems somewhat seedy, maybe due in part to the advertising. Regardless, everything you could possibly want is here – just search and go.

YouTube.com
The original  in user-uploaded video, YouTube set the precedent for a plethora of multi-faceted content.  Searching any topic will bring up a number of videos.  From music videos to documentaries, the original just can’t be beat.

Arrr matey… tired of pirating your music? Check out these sites that run free music with no legal risk. Free tunes, ahoy!

Last.fm
Acting as a wiki with a huge database of musicians, artists and bands, Last.fm holds no comparison to user-modified media. Last.fm also has profiles for what users listen to.

HypeM.com
The Hype Machine aggregates discussion on music blogs. It then decides what is most popular and outputs the result on the site.

Pandora.com
With ease on licensing agreements, Pandora is the best bet to hear about new music for free. Type in your artist or song, and off you go to the wild blue yonder of new tunes.  Referential and unpredictable, Pandora makes it happen!

MySpace.com
The behemoth of social networking still can’t be beat in its breadth. The MySpace music player crushes the bit rate of uploaded songs, but the sheer volume of what’s on there can’t be matched.

Sure, free media is great.  But isn’t the Web good for things besides pornography, music and video? Yes, but just barely.

EasyBib.com
The most comprehensive MLA and APA citation Web site out there, now with free registration. Save time for more distraction!

WebMd.com
Have a wild weekend and wake up with a weird rash? No, it doesn’t happen to everyone, but here you can make sure it is ONLY Chlamydia.

IDrink.com
You’ve got sweet vermouth, Nestle Quik and dry ice – is a cocktail possible? This site will tell you just what else you need.

IChapters.com
Don’t buy your whole textbook. Just buy the chapters that matter! This site makes it possible.

Boise.Craigslist.com
Craig’s List has set the standard for online classifieds, discussion and personals. Nothing is easier, quicker and more fun. Buy, sell, stalk, laugh, joke, harass and pick up, all under the cover of bland html 1.0.
