Boise State closes regular season at home with Hawai’i and San Jose State

What’s Happening – Boise State University (9-6-2, 2-2-1 WAC) closes out the regular season with two key home matches versus the University of Hawai’i (6-6-4, 2-2-1 WAC) on Friday and San  Jose State University (4-9-4, 1-3-1 WAC) on Sunday. The match on Sunday is the regular season finale and “Senior Day.” Boise State will honor the three seniors with a short pre-match ceremony.

The Broncos currently sit in a two-way tie for third place with Hawai’i in the Western Athletic Conference standings. Boise State needs to win at least one of the two remaining matches to secure a berth into next week’s conference tournament in Reno, Nev.  Only the top six teams advance to the tournament.

Recently for Boise State – Boise State enters the final week at 9-6-2 overall and 2-2-1 in Western Athletic Conference play. The Broncos split a pair of road matches last weekend dropping a defensive battle 1-0 at

Fresno State followed by a key 2-0 victory at the University of Nevada on Sunday. Boise State failed to score at Fresno State while freshmen Janelle Jin and Chelsea Robinson each scored at Nevada to lead the Broncos to victory. Prior to that, freshman Chelsea Robinson recorded there second career goal in the second minute of action to lead the

Broncos past the University of Idaho and claim the 2008 Gem State championship.

With Boise State’s 2-0 win at Nevada last Sunday the Broncos have clinched their fifth consecutive non-losing season. They currently stand at 9-6-2 overall and have two regular season matches plus potentially one or more at the league Tournament next week. At this point of the season they can finish no lower than .500.

Stampede D-League draft party

The Idaho Stampede  invites fans to its NBA Development League Draft Party Friday, Nov. 7 at Legends Sports Pub & Grill, located at 7609 Overland Rd. at the Edwards Cinema Plaza in Boise.

The festivities will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the draft will commence at 5 p.m.  Live coverage of the 2008 NBA D-League Draft will begin at 5 p.m. MST on NBATV.

There is no cost to attend and parking is free.  Due to limited space, the Stampede encourages fans to arrive early. Legends will offer food and drink specials as well as an extended Happy Hour from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.

The Stampede’s mascot AAA Rumble, Spirit dance team, Stampede front office and coaching staff, as well as some special guests, will join the fans.

Stampede fans will have the opportunity to pick up their season ticket packets at the party.  If fans can’t make the Draft Party on Friday, they can  pick up their packets Monday, Nov. 10 – Wednesday, Nov. 12 from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. at the Stampede front office located in the Grove Hotel at 233 S. Capitol Blvd., Suite 100 in Downtown Boise.

The Idaho Stampede tips off their 11th season, and third in the NBA Development League, in November. Season tickets for the reigning D-League Champions during the 2008-09 season start at only $195 per seat.
