A plethora of experience and talent highlights the Boise State University women’s basketball squad this year.
Despite entering the season without one of their top scorers (guard Jessica Thompson, who is out with an injury) the Broncos will have an experienced frontcourt and backcourt as nine players return with game time skill.
“I think that we’ll do well as long as we keep working hard,” senior and preseason pick as Player of the Year Tasha Harris said. “As long as we put our best foot forward we will be fine.”
Their best foot forward dubs as their finest, as they were voted the Preseason WAC Champs. However, the Broncos will lean on experienced players who know the system, which should help with their tough early season schedule.
Their schedule features home matchups with PAC-10 foes, Washington State and Arizona, while they take to the road to play Washington, Santa Clara, Montana and Montana State.
“Hopefully we can take the last two years and run and built on it,” head coach Gordy Presnell said.
Last season the Broncos lost in the second round of the WAC tournament to host New Mexico State 66-72 and ended up in the WNIT, instead of the NCAA tournament they played two years ago.
With the guidance of Harris and three other players who averaged six points or more during the season, the Broncos should make some noise on the court this year.
The Broncos open up play this Saturday at 1 p.m. against Lewis-Clark State in an exhibition game.
