Forget about the hypes, clichés and the uninspired, familiar clothing. Here comes progressive dress.

The Lux Fashion Lounge, at 785 W. Idaho St. is Boise’s center for buying, selling and trading designer apparel.

Patrons and newcomers of this small boutique find it decorated in fashion-geared artwork, artwork by local artists, abundant mirrors, fitting rooms and multitudes of pants, blouses and shoes. Everything a fan of aesthetic apparel could ask for.

“The Lux is a unique place downtown to find a great article [of clothing] that you didn’t know you were looking for,” manager Tessa McNabb said.

The Lux doesn’t specialize in ready-set outfits for a certain fashion outing, nor will it create an outlandish outfit that grandma will look down upon. The Lux is focused toward the hipster genre of clothing – a carry all, wear anywhere style, a way to piece an outfit together and intrigue all whom observe.

To the regular downtown passerby, the Lux may appear to be a women’s fashion boutique. However, The Lux carries both women’s and men’s clothing at around a 60 – 40 ratio.

The fact that Boise attracts a wide range of cultures, styles, opinions and ideals personifies The Lux as representative of this city. To create a style, to improve a look, or to be the center-of-attention, the fashion revolutionary has few places more to look beyond The Lux.

The Lux is a locally-owned company dedicated to providing aesthetic fashion at affordable prices. The Lux is also forthright in being environmentally aware. With clean and fresh water resources beginning to decline, fashion gurus can consider themselves “green” by purchasing a second-hand T-shirt over the brand-new T-shirt that used hundreds of gallons of water to produce.

The Lux is also a part of the Downtown Boise Associations and participates in First Thursday. Every First Thursday they display the work of a local artist and sell it pro-bono, as well as have a live window dancer inside the store and a live DJ outside.

The Lux is open Mon. – Sat. from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. Their hours for purchasing clothing are Mon. – Fri. from noon – 5 p.m. After 5 p.m. a buyer assesses the value of the clothing and offers either 25 percent cash or 40 percent in-store credit.

To improve your style, get a wink or keep all eyes on you, visit The Lux Fashion Lounge downtown, checkout their Website, luxfashionlounge.com, or call 344-4LUX.
