Three new student senators joined the Associated Students of Boise State University at the Thursday, Sept. 11 Senate meeting in the Student Union Forum. One new senator, freshman Aaron Henretty, the younger brother of Senate Pro Tempore Joel Henretty, said he felt he could represent students just experiencing university life. "It was recommended to me by a friend that I just need to get involved," Sen. A. Henretty, a mass communication major, said. Also new to the Senate is junior accounting major James Bird. Sen. Bird also said he was looking for an opportunity to get involved on campus. Sen. A. Henretty and Sen. Bird are joined in Senate by international student Jang Hee (Elliot) I. The Senate also confirmed the appointment of Ashlee Mendive to the executive staff. Mendive will serve as a project manager. Senate Bill #02-2008, "Business Casual Dress Code," entered First Reading Tuesday, where it was moved to the Ways and Means Committee. The bill requests that all ASBSU wear business casual attire to their Thursday meetings. Sen. Saul Solis, author of the bill, cited "projecting a professional image" as the reason for the legislation. "I think we should be taking our Thursday voting meetings very seriously," Sen. Solis said. The ASBSU Senate meets every Tuesday and Thursday at 4 p.m. in the SUB Forum.
