A motorcycle ride in honor of Mary Ellen Ryder will take place Saturday, Sept. 6. Those wishing to attend should meet at the southeast corner of the Boise State University Stadium parking lot. Registration starts at 9 a.m. The riders will ride to Idaho City and back. Riders are asked to submit a $10 donation to support the Boise Fire Department Burnout Fund. According to Dwight Murphy, who is helping coordinate the ride, at least one fire truck and some firemen will be there to collect the money. "Riders support the community," Murphy said when asked about the motivation behind the event. "Riders support everybody. And what a perfect way to have a ride and also to raise money for people that are in need." Dustin Seybold also helped coordinate the ride. "I love Boise," he said. "I was born and raised here. It [the fire and death] was a big thing to hit Boise and I thought we needed to help." Seybold estimates that somewhere between 20 and 50 riders will show for the event, but he can’t be sure because of the short time to plan. "Usually rides like this have a few months of advertising time …We’ve [only] had like a week and a half now for this one," he said. The riders will observe a moment of silence in Ryder’s memory before kickstands go up.
