This Saturday freshman Kellen Moore will take center stage.

He will be the man everyone has their eyes on, scrutinizing his every play and watching his every move. And if you’re worried about how he’ll handle the monumentous pressure, don’t be.

The newly appointed quarterback of the Boise State University Broncos seems to have things under control and has a pretty good idea of what it takes to succeed.

“It’s pretty simple, I need to get them [the wide receivers and running backs] the ball, “ Moore said.

Moore should have a good idea of how to run things because he’s been around football his whole life.

Moore grew up watching and helping out his dad, Tom, who is the head coach at Prosser Washington. Moore played his high school ball for his dad as well.

One of the benefits of being around football 24/7 most of his life was the lessons and instructions he received from observing his father.

“I think the details and preparation part [I took from my dad]. He was always a very detailed and prepared guy,” Moore said.

Heading into Saturday against Idaho State,  University,Moore has been doing just that—preparing and watching ISU and getting ready for the big day.

“I watched quite a bit, early this year…” Moore said. “They’re an aggressive defense, they get to the ball really well. I think they’re just an attacking type of defense, they play really hard.”

For Saturday, Moore is excited to just get the ball rolling.

This will be his first start since starting as a sophomore quarterback in high school.

“It will be exciting, a great opportunity, a little bigger crowd,” Moore said.

One thing for sure is that he will have a lot of options.

“Obviously it’s a well-known position. I’m very lucky to have all the white outs and backs,” Moore said.

With running backs Ian Johnson, Jeremy Avery, D.J. Harper and a core of wide receivers to go to, Moore should be golden.

With the opening game approaching, Moore has the support and backing of his teammates.

“I think he’s got a great knack for the game and a great feel,” senior Bush Hamdan said. “…I think he’s totally a guy who leads by example, he’s always done the right thing.”
