Junior wide reciever Jeremy Childs (9) will not be the only player missing from the sidelines for the Idaho State University and Boise State University on Saturday, Aug. 30.

Senior wide receiver Toshi Franklin (21) and sophomore cornerback Keith McGowen (17) were suspended. No reason was given.

Junior quarterback Nick Lomax (15) will be cutting ties with the Broncos.

“He is going to sit out this fall and probably go to play for a division II or a division III school,” Head Coach Chris Peterson said. “It was a little bit of a surprise. I think Nick saw the writing on the wall a little bit and wanted to go play.”

The decision will bring the roster to three quarterbacks, not including red-shirt freshman Drew Hawkins (10).

“[Nick] is an awesome kid,” Peterson said. He is a great person. He is a good student. He is a good quarterback. We’ve just got some good players at that position.”

Lomax completed 6 of 13 passes during the 2007 season with no touchdowns or interceptions.
