Street artist scorns police

Story

As Boise’s downtown continues to burgeon, inevitably the number of street dwellers will rise. One character noticeably fresh to the sidewalks identifies himself only as Dude Man. The self-identified drifter has no reservations about stretching out across the sidewalk in order to conduct his work and business, namely creating etched works of art on found pieces of cardboard.

Dude Man also enjoys whipping out his guitar to partake in some urban riffage; unfortunately, local police don’t share his enthusiasm for the music.

“I’ve been hassled for playing my guitar more often than I have for sleeping on the street,” Dude Man said.

The multi-talented freewheeler isn’t native to Boise, but may find himself here for sometime to come. His backpack was stolen in Wyoming a little more than a month ago; his identification, along with most of his supplies, were inside. Since then, Dude Man said he’s been having trouble crossing state lines safely, hence his stasis in Boise.

Dude Man travels with his faithful companion, D.O.G. The well-trained and loyal bulldog can be seen pulling his owner around town on a skateboard or even riding the board himself.
