Quarterback battle tale of two men

The pursuit for the eeliest quarterback position at Boise State for the 2008-09 season had two leaders emerge last spring: Senior Bush Hamdan and freshman Kellen Moore.

Now flash forward to August and the start of Fall Camp, and the two are still the front runners and are battling it out in a tight knit race.

Bush Hamdan

Last year for the six foot senior, was almost like a rollercoaster, as Hamdan experienced almost every high and low there can be as a quarterback.

“.last year was draining..obviously going from potentially being the starter to legitimately dropping to the fourth string without even knowing why, last year was draining .but .I’d like to thing I had a great summer,” Hamdan said.

That great summer and last spring ball he had, helped restore his confidence and also really put his senior leadership abilities front and center as his last year as a Bronco has gotten under way.

“I think that there a lot of guys on the team that kind of respond to me.personality wise I might not be like anyone else.I kind of do my own thing.from day one it’d be awesome to be the starter, mainly for these guys, they’re great guys,” Hamdan said.

Last season Hamdan went 4-of-6 for 98 yards.

Kellen Moore

The freshman from Prosser, Washington didn’t play in one single game last year as he sat out as a redshirt. However, that time not on the blue, was well spent. Moore used that time to learn the offensive, gain knowledge of the college game, and to get his body and mind ready for his time.

“Last year it was all about the mental side of the game.,” Moore said.

This past spring, Moore emerged as a legitimate contender for the starting QB role and now has almost been thrust into the spotlight along side Hamdan.

“Bush is a great leader on this team. I think just like me, he’s really confident,” Moore said.

The main difference between Moore and Hamdan is age and leadership. However, as Moore isn’t used to being the go-to guy as Hamdan has been around the system for five years, Moore is sure his personality and intangibilities will speak for themselves.

“I think there are different ways to be a leader, I’m not the most vocal .but hopefully I can led by example.”
