Story

Some students just want to graduate, but others aim to unite nations.

The National Model United Nations met in New York this year April 22-26. Sixteen Boise State students attended. The students are: Jun Hwang, Bryan Ricker, Ernest Dunlap, Hanako Wakatsuki, Anjuli Waybright, Dustin Lane, Lauren Pfeifer, Josue Gomez, Alex Dorofeev, Adam LaBarbera, Larina Crapo, Ruby Valdez, Geneva Roman, Rebecca Ames, Betsy Zenard and Trevor Jack. This year’s convention was the largest ever and was sponsored by the National Collegiate Conference Association.

The conference is held at the U.N. General Assembly hall and teaches students about the U.N. by allowing students to role play as a country.

Boise State students represented The Kingdom of Jordan.

As a result they were able to meet with the Jordanian Ambassador and discuss Jordan’s role in the U.N. Students were also able to ask questions.

The Model U.N. Club received the “Outstanding Student Organization” award from the Associated Studnets of Boise State University for the academic year 2007-08. Executive Director of the Frank Church Institute Gary Wenske is the club advisor.
