


Gymnastics take second at Invite
The No. 19 Boise State gymnastics team posted a season-best team score of 196.575 Saturday afternoon. The team finished in second place at the Salbasgeon Suites Invitational, hosted by No. 8 Oregon State University.
The Broncos (12-3, 7-2 WAC) finished just behind the Beavers’ score of 197.20.
They did, however, top No. 16 Missouri, which scored a 195.325 to finish third in the meet.
Western Athletic Conference opponent No. 36 Sacramento State took fourth with a 193.850 team total.
The Broncos posted the sixth-highest team score in school history, surpassing the No. 6 mark of 196.425 they scored earlier this season.
Not only did they jump into the record books in overall team scoring, but also tied for the No. 6 team vault mark in BSU history as well as earning sole possession of the No. 9 team bars ranking.
BSU posted scores of 49.125 on vault, 49.2 on bars, 49.025 on beam, and 49.225 on floor while winning the team competition on vault and finishing in second behind the Beavers on bars, beam and floor.
The Broncos will compete in their final regular season meet Friday, March 21 against the University of California-Berkeley.
The competition will be held at the Taco Bell Arena at 7 p.m.
The Broncos will host the WAC Championships on Saturday, March 29 at the Taco Bell Arena with competition starting a 6 p.m.
Men’s tennis defeats No. 30 Notre Dame
The No. 35 Boise State men’s tennis team bounced back to defeat No. 30 Notre Dame after an upsetting loss to Penn State on Friday at the Blue Gray Tennis Classic.
The Broncos (11-10) played to a 4-3 upset win over the Fighting Irish (10-5) in the main draw consolation match, improving their tournament record to 2-1.
The Fighting Irish suffered their second loss of the Blue Gray Classic, falling to 1-2 in the tournament.
The Broncos fought back from a 1-0 deficit after dropping the doubles point to Notre Dame, earning four wins in singles to top the Fighting Irish.
The only Bronco doubles team to earn a victory was No. 41 Luke and Clancy Shields, who topped Brett Helgeson and Sheeva Parbhu in the No. 1 position, 8-3.
BSU will continue its season at home next weekend with the Boise State University Spring Break Invitational on March 21-22 at the Appleton Tennis Center.
Women’s tennis sweeps weekend matches
The No. 43 Boise State women’s tennis team continued its success at the Shocker Classic hosted by Wichita State University on Saturday, defeating the University of Arkansas-Little Rock, 5-2.
The Broncos (11-4) earned their second win of the tournament after topping Wichita State on Friday, 5-2.
The Broncos extended their record on a neutral court to 3-0 on Saturday after sweeping all three doubles matches as well as picking up wins at the No. 1, 2, 3 and 4 spots in singles play.
In doubles play No. 59 Pichittra Thongdach and Polina Kokoulina defeated UALR’s Anne Weijenborg and Patricia Cortes, 8-4, in the No. 1 match.
BSU’s Laura Baum and Jana Mackova easily topped Rebecca Van Den Houte and Laetitia Bourgeon, 8-2, in the No. 2 match.
Stacey Housley and Klaudia Wlodarczyk earned an 8-3 victory over Nathalia Garay and Marta Gomez-Jordana in the No. 3 match.
