


The shooter that left at multiple students injured at Northern Illinois University this afternoon was reported dead by suicide at about 4 p.m. (CT) by the university’s student newspaper – The Northern Star. Campus police at the university, located in Dekalb, Ill., 65 miles west of Chicago, have confirmed this information.
NIU’s Website reported the possibility of a gunman at 3:20 p.m., and 20 minutes later, confirmed that several students had been hospitalized. Campus police informed the student body that it was out of danger at 4:24 p.m.
The Northern Star’s Website reported that the shooter was a white male wielding a shotgun, and posted just after 5 p.m. that at least 15 students had been inured. No victim fatalities were confirmed.
Classes at NIU are canceled this evening, and Friday, Feb. 15.
