Boise State’s Tasha Harris was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team as selected by CoSIDA. It is the first such honor for the junior on the women’s basketball team as she made the districts second team list. Harris graduated last fall in three and a half years with a 3.6 GPA and a degree in communication.

The Longmont, Colo. native is currently working on her master’s degree in communication while she finishes the last year and half of her basketball eligibility. Other academic achievements include being named a three-time WAC Scholar Athlete, two-time academic All-WAC and a three-time Deans List honoree.

Athletically, Harris has started at the point guard position in every game of her career entering this week’s competition, 83 starts to date.

The junior is ranked second in the Western Athletic Conference and 62nd nationally for scoring averaging 17.0 points per game. In addition, she averages 4.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists (WAC 2nd), and 2.1 steals (WAC 8th) in 29.7 minutes per game.

This year the sharp shooting guard has hit 48.4 percent (WAC 8th) of her attempts from the floor, 34.4 percent (WAC 9th) from the 3-point arc, and 73.3 percent (WAC 10th) from the free-throw line.

She has scored double-figure points in 24 consecutive games dating back to last year and has led the team in scoring in 11-of-21 games to date, recording a career-high 30 points at Portland in December. Her career athletic honors include 2005 WAC All-Freshmen Team, 2007 WAC All-Tournament Team, 2007 Preseason All-WAC Second Team, and has twice been named the WAC Player of the Week this season.
