An exhibit featuring 40 mixed-media pieces from multi-talented artist, writer and educator Faith Ringgold. Ringgold’s work spans a wide range of social and political issues.

John Taylor: Submerge Dec. 22, 2007 – May 25, 2008

Considered an “outsider artist,” self-trained sculptor John Taylor brings 21 of his pieces to the Boise Art Museum. Taylor interprets long forgotten sea-faring vessels into mixed-media sculptures.

Las Artes de Mexico Dec. 8, 2007 – Feb.24, 2008

An exploration of the vast cultural background of South and Central American peoples, this exhibit spans over 3,500 years worth of artistic output, from the civilizations of the Aztecs and Mayans, to works from contemporary artists.

Laura McPhee: River of No Return Aug. 25, 2007 – Jan. 20, 2008

McPhee’s large-scale photographs examine the issue of land use and landscape across Idaho. The artist considers these photographs a microcosm of a dilemma that communities face nationwide.

Marsden Hartley: American Modern Mar. 22 – Jun. 22, 2008

Hartley, a member of the early avant-garde movement, is considered an American master painter. His works depict the American Southwest, and this exhibit displays the largest collection of his work.

Andrea Merrell: Measure of Man Apr. 5 – Jun. 22, 2008

Merrell’s work examines sacred geometry with understated, soft colors and contemplative forms. Merrell is a talented visual artist in many mediums, and “Measure of Man”presents her many talents.
