The low down: It doesn’t matter whether five or 5,000 BSU fans make the trip to Honolulu, Hawaii, this one should be an offensive jugernaut. Expect offensive fireworks in paradise.
Pacific Life Holiday
Arizona State vs. Texas
Dec. 27, 8 p.m.
Dennis Erickson took flack for leaving the University of Idaho after one season back. Turns out he had a good reason – a No. 2 finish in the Pac-10 and a bowl game against the No. 19 team in the country. Two power conferences grinding it out almost always makes for a heavy weight fight.
PetroSun Independence
Alabama vs. Colorado
Dec. 30, 8 p.m.
These two up-and-comers might not look like the most intriguing matchup initially, but we’d venture to say both schools have the potential to be playing on a much bigger stage in the near future. And don’t forget the local ties with CU Head Coach Dan Hawkins and the Buff’s starting QB Cody Hawkins.
AT&T Cotton
Missouri vs. Arkansas
Jan. 1, 11:30 a.m.
Even though Arkansas will be without recently departed Head Coach, Houston Nutt, junior sensation Darren McFadden simply plays big in big games. He should make this one close. Missouri, on the other hand, should still be out to prove they deserved a spot in a BCS bowl game.
Other notables:
Chick-fil-A
Clemson vs. Auburn

Roady’s Humanitarian
Georgia Tech vs. Fresno State

Outback
Wisconsin vs. Tennessee

Least Intriguing:
Pioneer Las Vegas
UCLA vs. BYU
Dec. 22, 8 p.m.
So they played already back on Sept 8, who really wants to see this one again? UCLA is in the middle of a coaching transition, after a mediocre year, while the Cougars are rolling – not exactly the recipe for success.
Worst Bowl name:
San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl
Utah vs. Navy
Dec. 20, 9 p.m.
Is this really the best they can do? We only hope this will forever hold the record for most extensive, ridiculous name in bowl history.
Most misleading:
Capitol One
Michigan vs. Florida
Jan. 1, 1 p.m.
This one would have been fun ten years ago. Now, however, it seems to be a lot of fluff. Both teams have decent records, but Florida has the Heisman winner and Lloyd Carr is a lame duck. Michigan could suffer a deadly Gator bite.
