‘Zeitgeist’ raises real questions

You will most likely never hear about the documentary “Zeitgeist” from the mainstream media in this country, state or city. If a desired effect of your college education is to develop critical thought, “Zeitgeist” can help to stimulate your mind effectively.

“Zeitgeist” debuted in June of this year. It was produced by Peter J. as a non-profit film.

The documentary was created to “Inspire people to start looking at the world from a more critical perspective and to understand that very often things are not what the population at large thinks they are.”

Zeitgeist is a German phrase that roughly means “the spirit of the age.” The documentary is comprised of three sections, all of which describe elements of our current world.

The first section is entitled “The Greatest Story Ever Told” and looks critically at Christian beliefs established in the Bible. It never attacks Christians themselves, but delivers a critique of the Bible as fiction over fact.

The documentary makes a strong, cited, but controversial argument that the Bible is based on astrological principles documented by many ancient civilizations pertaining to movement of the sun through the sky and stars.

It shows that the story of God’s “sun” has been told throughout the pre-Christian world, in many different forms. It attempts to shed light on to the process of turning adoration and worship for the life-giving sun into the adoration and worship of Jesus Christ and the church.

The second section is titled “All the World is a Stage” and contains a debunking of the “9/11 Myth.”

Arguments are presented that the United States was internationally warned of imposing attacks, that NORAD was purposely confused on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001 and that the World Trade Center buildings were destroyed demolition-style. T

his section also delivers arguments that some hijackers are still alive, the Bush administration covered up details in the 9/11 Commissions’ Report and that a plane never hit the Pentagon. Most of all it attempts to show Osama Bin Laden as nothing more than an enemy image created by the media and government to perpetuate fear so that financially profitable war can be generated.

The third section is titled “Don’t Mind the Men behind the Curtain” and attempts to describe how the powerful bankers of the world have been conspiring for world domination and increased power. According to the documentary, the rich of society have been using their wealth to increase financial panic and foster a consolidation of independent competing banks.

Then these powerful few established the Federal Reserve System, our privately-controlled national bank, in order to steal the wealth of our nation. It showcases the amount of money that has been made by these rich few during World War I, World War II, the Vietnam War and now the war in Iraq. It describes the goal of these bankers as world power over a completely controllable public.

“Zeitgeist” plays for free at www.Zeitgeistmovie.com and is roughly two hours long. It also contains an interactive transcript, with citations and references.

Whether you agree or disagree with the message of the movie it’s worth spending the time to watch it.

“Zeitgeist” will go down in time as a counter-culture staple. Until then it will perpetuate criticism.
