


BSU finishes second
The Boise State University women’s cross country team continues to receive solid contributions from the entire lineup as it posted a second place finish with 53 points at the Charles Bowles Invitational in Salem, Ore.
This is the fourth consecutive race the women’s team has finished either first or second.
Breanna Sande led the team and finished in the top five for the fourth straight race as she posted a 17:40.70 to finish third on the 5,000-meter course at Bush Park.
All five BSU women’s runners finished in the top 20.
Cody Eaton once again led the men’s team as he finished in sixth place with a 25:00.95.
Sawyer Bosch was the only other Bronco men’s runner to finish in the top 20 as he collected a 19th place finish with a 25:23.20 on the 8,000-meter course.
The BSU cross-country teams will take a weekend hiatus before returning to the action Oct. 13 at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational.
Volleyball falls at La Tech
Despite putting up a tough fight, the Boise State volleyball team fell to Louisiana Tech in five games Saturday with scores of 30-25, 30-28, 23-30, 23-30, 13-15.
The Broncos outblocked the Lady Techsters, 12 to nine, with freshman Sadie Maughan posting six total blocks while Jeanette Jenkins tallied three solo blocks on the
evening.
Offensively, the Broncos had four women with double-digit kills including Arlee Tamietti (18), Jenkins (14), Robyn Hewitt (13) and Alisha King (11). Maughan led BSU with a hitting-percentage of .375 (7-1-16).
Setter Mandy Klein proved to be a force on the floor as she tallied 56 assists, 11 digs and two service aces for the Broncos. Freshman Lauren Hamm led BSU in digs with 24, while teammate Jeanene Rose notched 10 of her own.
The Broncos will stay on the road with a trip to Fresno, Calif. Thursday it faces Fresno State. The ladies will then return home Saturday to face Idaho.
