The season opener against is finally in sight for the Boise State football team and fans will be packing the stadium for another exciting season of Bronco football.

As with years passed game day access to the stadium will be at an all time worst. This year, however, when fans arrive to Bronco Stadium they should expect to see some changes.
Less parking spaces, orange cones and signs will spread throughout the parking lot – not to mention some major construction on the West side of Bronco Stadium.

This is all in due to the construction that took flight on Feb. 14 to help expand Bronco Stadium.

“The idea for the expansion was really the whole athletic department and Gene Bleymeir really helped push it,” Curt Apsey, associate athletic director, said.

The stadium expansion entails state of the art press boxes, suits, luxury boxes and a whole redesign of the West side, including concession stands and new restrooms. The expansion will also feature 3 ballrooms that can be used for events and meetings explained Apsey.

“It will be a better environment for the fan base,” Apsey said.
So far all the suits have been sold out, but around 100 of the club seats remains for sale.

Some of the hassles that Bronco fans are going to have to deal with this season are the loss of about 200 parking spots on the West side of the stadium due to all of the construction.

“Parking standpoint, the BAA [Bronco Athletic Associate] members and others on the West side will be affected,” Appsey said.

To counter the loss of parking spots for BAA members Washington Group International will have free parking to BAA permit owners starting at 5 p.m. for weekday games and two hours prior for Bronco weekend games.

There will be some limited parking space for BAA members around the stadium lots.

For the public parking, it is said to be very limited on campus so biking, walking and parking off campus is encouraged. The use of Boise shuttles is also an option. The athletic department recommends four locations to catch a shuttle to the stadium.

Fans can catch one of the shuttle systems at Harry’s Restaurant located off of Park Center Drive. It is $1 to ride the shuttle to and from the game, per person. Shuttles will run for one hour before and after each game.

There will also be off campus parking downtown in the parking garages. Fans can take Boise Tour shuttles from downtown to Bronco Stadium. Boise Tour shuttles stop at the corners of 6th and Grove, 8th and Idaho and 10th and Main.

The final shuttle service will run from the Washington Group International parking structure on Park Blvd. The parking lot is located across from the Ram parking lot and will cost $5 for non-BAA members.

Aside from using shuttle services the university is also recommending fans to arrive on campus earlier to avoid missing the start of games. The administration does expect the process to be smoothed out as the season goes on. The current stadium construction is expected to be complete by the start of next football season.

The last time Bronco stadium had any changes made to it was in the 1970s. The whole stadium construction is estimated to cost around $35.9 million.
