The heat and hum, the quiet contemplation and the constant clicking – being in college often means you practically live in the computer labs.

Boise State University expects students to have access to a computer and the Internet.

Luckily students do not have to own a computer to have this access.

Multiple computer labs around campus with both Mac and PC availability exist and all that is needed to gain access is a BSU ID card and the ability to be able to stare at a computer screen for multiple hours at a time.

Writing papers is a fact of the college experience.

Even an engineering student looking to work with numbers until the end of time will have to write a paper here and there.
The computer labs are interspersed throughout campus and the computer lab locations and hours are as follows:

The Business Building. Located on the north end of the Quad just west of Albertson’s Library has a computer lab in room 209.

It is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In each one of these labs, you will need to sign in with your student ID number, which you will find on your student ID card.
Once signed on you will have access to multiple programs including Word, Excel, Office and Publisher.

You will also have the ability to print in these labs.

Each student starts out with $15 for printing.

A sheet of paper costs 10 cents and you do have the ability to print on both sides of the page.

Ask one of the computer techs on shift in the lab how to print on both sides if you do not know how.

If you happen to run out of money on your printing account, there are many stations set up throughout campus that allow you to put more money on it.

Simply swipe your ID card and follow the instructions on the pay station.

Often, a computer lab will be closed for a multitude of reasons and it may not even look closed. The hours are posted outside of each door.

Make sure you look for anything out of the ordinary. Usually, when one lab is closed another is open at the same time to accommodate the students.

Another trick to the computer lab are the multiple printer options. Most labs have more than one printer, so if there is a long line at one look for another.
