Treasure Valley families and Boise State students will have an opportunity to attend a free presentation with Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, the hosts of the Discovery Channel’s “MythBusters.” The event is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m., inside the Taco Bell Arena.

Since “MythBusters” first premiered on the Discovery Channel in January 2003, millions of households have tuned in each week to watch the cast and crew build amazing contraptions, which they frequently destroy in the process of confirming or busting a wide variety of urban myths, folklore and legends.
The multi-media event will include a lecture featuring Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, a video of “bloopers” from the show and an opportunity for audience members to ask questions.

Free tickets for this event sold out in 15 minutes the morning they were released. While the 3,000 tickets are now gone, event organizers say there may still be some open seating available on Feb. 25 if some of those who have already obtained tickets do not attend.

“The enthusiasm for the ‘MythBusters’ has been just incredible.
We’re excited and pleased so many people are interested in attending, and we wish that we had enough seating to accommodate everyone,” Cheryl Schrader, dean of the College of Engineering, said.

The College of Engineering at Boise State University, along with the Micron Technology Foundation, Albertsons/SuperValu Foundation, Washington Group International, Hewlett-Packard, Idaho Power Co. and HDR Engineering, present
the “MythBusters” event as part of the college’s yearlong 10th year anniversary celebration and National Engineers Week.

“Micron believes that supporting math, science and engineering education is critical to cultivating tomorrow’s technology leaders,” Mark Durcan said, Micron chief operating officer and National Engineers Week presenter. “In celebration of National Engineers Week, Micron is delighted to help bring ‘MythBusters’ to Boise to spark a passion for engineering in our local youth.”
