BSU calls for Orange

The Boise State University athletic department is making the final color coordination request of the 2006 football season. BSU is asking for fans to wear orange at the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl Jan. 1 in Glendale, Ariz.

The athletic department hopes they will get a similar response to the one they got for the blue-orange out earlier this season.
Against Fresno State BSU called for half the stadium to wear blue and the other half to wear orange. The blue-orange out was successful and is still a topic of praise by the BSU administration.

BSU has sold out of its allotted 17,500 Fiesta Bowl tickets and expects a great fan following in Glendale.

BSU has tickets, hotel rooms, tailgate party tickets and parking passes available

As of Dec. 13 the Boise State University athletic department announced it still has game tickets, tailgate party tickets and parking passes still available, along with several rooms at the team’s alumni and VIP hotel.

Thursday (Dec. 14) beginning at 9:00 a.m. (MT), the ticket office will put on sale a minimum of 200 tickets to the game at $150.00 each.  The ticket office still has for sale game day tickets to the tailgate party at the University of Phoenix Stadium at $20.00 each and parking passes for the stadium at $30.00 each.

Along with the game, tailgate party and parking passes, the athletic department is also making available several hotel rooms at the team’s alumni and VIP property in Scottsdale, Ariz.  The hotel is the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale and the room rate is $210.00 with a minimum three-night stay.  The three nights must be during the nights of Dec. 29 (Friday), Dec. 30 (Saturday), Dec. 31 (Sunday) or Jan. 1 (Monday).
Bronco fans wanting to reserve hotel rooms need to e-mail Patti Morgan in the Boise State athletic department at pmorgan@boisestate.edu as soon as possible.

Three BSU players named to Sporting News All-America team

Boise State players continue to earn postseason national honors.  Running back Ian Johnson has been named to his fourth All-America Team along with linebacker Korey Hall and defensive back Kyle Wilson.

Johnson, a sophomore, and Hall, a senior, were named to the Sporting News second-team All-America Team.  Wilson, a redshirt freshman, was an honorable mention pick on the magazine’s freshman All-America Team.

The All-America selection for Johnson is his fourth this year with both SI.com and CBS SportsLine.com naming Johnson to the first team and the Associated Press placing him on the third team.

Johnson, a sophomore, finished the regular season second in the country in rushing with 158.33 yards per game.  He also is tops in the nation in scoring, averaging 13.09 points per game, and is fifth in all-purpose rushing with 151.27 yards per game.
He set a Boise State record for single-season rushing despite missing the Utah State game with a partially collapsed lung.

Hall, from Glenns Ferry, Idaho (Glenns Ferry HS), is a three-time first-team All-WAC selection.  He is currently third in the WAC in tackles this season with 8.8 per game.  He had made 54 solo tackles and 51 assisted for a team-high total of 105.  Hall has also recorded 6.5 tackles for loss (including 3.5 sacks), and has picked off six passes for a total of 108 yards.  He is the WAC’s active career leader in tackles with 388, the second most in league history.  The All-America selection was his first.

Wilson, from Piscataway, NJ (Piscataway HS), was the only freshman starter on the Boise State team after moving into the starting lineup midway through the season.  He finished with 31 tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss, five pass breakups, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and an interception.  Wilson is the second Bronco defensive back in as many years to be recognized by the Sporting News.  Sophomore Orlando Scandrick was an honorable mention Freshman All-America pick by the magazine last season
