The stadium clock reads 73:00 minutes, which means the month of preparation for the Fiesta Bowl will culminate in just over an hour. As I write, the Boise State football team arrives out of the tunnel and a deafening roar overcomes the stadium. Bellow me to the right is the Boise State band and they are rocking out like its the last day they’ll ever play their instruments.
To my left the lower deck of the stadium is filling with Blue and Orange, to my right its Crimson and Cream. The buzz is electric and I find it hard to keep my emotions in check as a proud Boise State student body member.
It’s times like this in which we need to step back and reflect on the 2006 football season. Undefeated, looking to capture a perfect 13-0 mark with a win over the Sooners. Boise State has nothing left to prove, the statement has already been made. Win or lose, the Broncos 12-0 regular season record can never be taken away.
Sixty six minutes on the west end scoreboard, an Ian Johnson highlight on the big screen has the Blue and Orange half of the stadium captivated. Half of the Boise crowd looks hungover from last nights Block Party, but that isn’t going to stop the screaming and insanity. There’s plenty of time for a nap after the game, the Fiesta Bowl is here and this moment will never be lived again.
