As the bowl season approaches, the anticipation of the big game increases. This year's match-up between may seem like a mismatch to some. A huge university with national titles and wealthy alumni spread across the country battling against a small state university with one 1-AA national title and a small regional following.

PHOENIX - As a member of The Arbiter staff, I have been most wondrously chosen to accompany the Boise State Broncos to the Valley of the Sun.
We came on our own, by air, via Oakland, Calif., where we became befuddled that the FAA has such strict regulations on the mouthwash you can take in your carry on, but the Oakland airport doesn't have ceilings.

Korey Hall is a small-town kid. But he is a big-time linebacker for the Boise State Broncos. The senior mike backer lead the Broncos in 2006 in tackles (105) and interceptions (6).
He was recently named the Western Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year for the 2006 season.

PHOENIX, Ariz. - Approximately 400,000 Fiesta Bowl enthusiasts and local residents lined the streets of central Phoenix to relax and take in the magnificence of the Fort McDowell Fiesta Bowl Parade.
The sounds of many marching bands, including the finalists in the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona Fiesta Bowl National Band Championships and the bands from Boise State University and the University of Oklahoma echoed down the asphalt.

The Miami Hurricanes survived sub-freezing temperatures, snow squalls and a last-minute drive by Nevada for a 21-20 MPC Bowl win that sent fired coach Larry Coker out a winner and preserved the program's ninth consecutive winning season.
Coker finished his six-year Miami career with a 60-15 record, one national championship and a bowl win on turf fittingly blue for the nation's only cold weather college post-season game.

The stadium clock reads 73:00 minutes, which means the month of preparation for the Fiesta Bowl will culminate in just over an hour. As I write, the Boise State football team arrives out of the tunnel and a deafening roar overcomes the stadium. Bellow me to the right is the Boise State band and they are rocking out like its the last day they'll ever play their instruments.
