Before you walk to your first class, you will likely need to find a parking space for your vehicle. Below are some important changes affecting parking on campus this fall.
While there are about the same number of parking spaces on campus this year as last, some of the General Parking areas have moved.
Buy your permit
Parking and Transportation Services is open from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday at the corner of Lincoln and University. They will not turn away people in line at 6 p.m. The cost is $69 for an annual general parking permit.
West Stadium Lot
The area most heavily impacted by the loss of general parking spaces is the West Stadium Lot. By March, Boise State will regain some parking spaces and have a tremendous multi-purpose indoor training facility. While the construction is taking place, parking in the area between Bronco Stadium and Taco Bell Arena will be very limited.
Most of the lot will be Resident Hall parking. It is anticipated that the general permit parking spaces in the West Stadium Lot will be filled by 8-8:30 a.m. each day.
Also note that due to the expansion of the Interactive Learning Center, the Public Affairs Parking Lot and Science Drive Circle will be completely closed for the fall and spring semesters of 2005-06.
East Stadium Lot
Spaces will continue to be available for general permit holders to park in the East Stadium Lot.
The BSU shuttle runs through this lot, and then circles campus with numerous drop-off points. Shuttle service runs Monday-Friday every 15 minutes from 7-8 a.m., every eight minutes from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and every 15 minutes from 5-9 p.m. (Friday shuttle service ends at 5:30 p.m.).
New General Parking
New general permit parking lots have been built, and others are in the process of being constructed on the south part of campus the area between University Drive to the north and Beacon to the south, Lincoln to the west and Broadway to the east. Here are the new general parking lots:
Michigan and Belmont (south of Student Recreation Center), 270 spaces
Denver and Beacon, 22 spaces
Euclid and University (old College Drive In), 24 spaces
Manitou south of Beacon, 25 spaces
To get the exact location of new and old lots, please refer to the campus parking map to the left or visit http://www.boisestate.edu/parking/BSUParking_Map2005.pdf.
General Permit
Your permit is only valid if visible. Do not loan, trade, or sell your permit to anyone. Only display your permit in vehicles registered with Parking and Transportation Services, and notify PTS if any vehicle information changes.
Cross parking into reserve lots is permitted only after 5 p.m. Monday-Friday and all day on weekends. Permit holders may be asked not to park in the BSU lots when events such as home football games are scheduled.
The university is doing everything it can to provide parking relief during this transitional period and appreciates your patience and understanding. Additional staff will be on hand for traffic control and directions. More parking spaces will become available incrementally, and by the beginning of spring semester, there should be more than 200 additional parking spaces than last year.
If you have any questions, please call Parking and Transportation Services at 426-PARK.
