


Mindy Bennett, Chris Carr, and Beck Roghaar, all three student-athletes at Boise State University, have been inducted into the 2005 class of the Founders’ Leadership Society. The three received their award on Wednesday.
The Society was established to recognize graduating students for their outstanding leadership involvement, both on campus and in the community. Criteria for the award includes leadership skills, commitment to service, an appreciation for diversity, and academic achievement.
Induction into the Society provides opportunities to mentor other students and to participate in meaningful activities to enhance their personal and professional leadership growth beyond graduation. All three Bronco student-athletes will graduate from Boise State this year.
Bennett is an exercise science major from Arvada, Colo., A member of the Boise State volleyball team, Bennett was a three-time selection to the WAC All-Academic team. Away from the court, Bennett coaches the Idaho Elite Volleyball Club and is an intern for Boise State’s biomechanics lab in the Center for Orthopaedic and Biomechanics Research. She is also a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Golden Key honor societies, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
An all-conference player for the nationally ranked and three-time WAC champion Bronco football team, Carr is a political science major from Reno, Nev. He is a three-time selection to the WAC All-Academic team, and was also named to this year’s ESPN The Magazine District 8 All-Academic Team, as selected by CoSIDA. Carr was selected as the WAC’s Player of the Week five times during his Bronco career. He has done volunteer work for the Make a Wish Foundation and organized weekly Bible study groups to reach out to other Boise State student-athletes.
Roghaar is a member of the Bronco men’s tennis team and a marketing major. Captain of this year’s tennis team, Roghaar has been named to the WAC All-Academic team three times. He also received a WAC Scholar Athlete Award in 2002 and 2004, and the ITA Scholar Athlete Award from 2001 to 2004. Roghaar was named the team’s Most Inspirational Player in 2004, and was on the Dean’s List with high honors in 2002 and 2003. He has organized National Athlete Day activities, participated in school visits and clinics, and volunteered at McKay Dee Hospital in his hometown of Ogden, Utah.
