


Following a 34-16 victory over Iowa State University in the Crucial.com Humanitarian Bowl on December 31, Boise State University is ranked among the top 15 in both the USA Today/ESPN and Associated Press final top 25 polls.
The Broncos moved up three spots in the final USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll from 15th to 12th, the highest NCAA I-A ranking in the history of the Boise State football program. Boise State received 808 points in the final coaches poll.
In the final Associated Press poll, Boise State also moved up three spots from 18th to 15th. The Broncos received 292 points in the final media poll.
Boise State made its first ever appearance in a major college football poll on November 10, 2002 with a 23rd ranking in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll following a 49-7 win over Rice University on November 9, 2002. The Broncos first ever appearance in the Associated Press top 25 poll came one week later (Nov. 17) with a 23rd ranking following a 36-10 win over Louisiana Tech University.
National champion Ohio State University completed the 2002 season ranked number one in both polls receiving all the first place votes. The top five teams were ranked the same in both polls with the University of Miami ranked second followed by the University of Georgia, USC and the University of Oklahoma.
The Broncos completed their 2002 season with an overall record of 12-1, the WAC Championship and its third Crucial.com Humanitarian Bowl victory in the past four years.
Boise State was one of only four teams to complete the 2002 season with one loss or less. Ohio State was undefeated at 14-0, with Georgia finishing at 13-1 and Boise State and Miami completing the year with 12-1 records.
Boise State also currently has the second longest active winning streak in I-A football with 11 consecutive victories. Ohio State has longest active streak with 14 straight wins.
Boise State is scheduled to open its 2003 schedule on August 30 (Saturday) at Brigham Young University.
